The laundry was started for washing the uniforms of the Portuguese and then the Dutch soldiers. To date clothes are hand washed here.

Drive past the 16th century Thirumala Devaswom Temple, one of the biggest temples of the Gowda Saraswath Brahmin community. Entry to the temple is restricted to members of this community.
Explore a nearby fruits and vegetables market before visiting the Brahmin quarters of the city. Learn to make a Kolam decoration with colored rice flour. These decorations are made at the entrance of Brahmin homes in South India.

  2. St. George Orthodox Koonan Kurish Old Syrian Church

    1 hour

Next drive through a short stretch of the 1.2 mile long Bazaar Road that is known for its spice and lentils shops. Make a quick stop at a Syrian Orthodox church, St. George Koonan Kurishu Church.
